The horror flick, which was directed by Guillermo del Toro, follows the tales of young children on Halloween in 1968.

They find a story written by Sarah Bellows, a young girl removed from her family photos in the house, and realise the stories seem to be coming to life in the town.

Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is well known for his terrifying characters, including dark fantasy drama Pan’s Labyrinth.

And it’s clear film goers couldn’t wait to see his latest work batch of villains in the flick, which hits cinemas Friday, August 23.
