Piers hasn’t been shy when criticising the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry for their upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey, believing the ‘crass’ chat will be ‘extremely bad for the country’.
He also slated Meghan for the bullying accusations made against her by former Royal aides, and for wearing earrings gifted to her by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman three weeks after he was linked to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.
Following the latest clip from the upcoming chat with Oprah, in which Meghan accuses the Royal Family of plotting against her, GMB opened up a discussion on what this meant for the monarchy – and journalist Ayesha Hazarika took the opportunity to criticise Piers’ conduct.
Defending Meghan and Harry, she said: ‘No one has any sympathy for her and no offence to your colleague who is not here, Piers Morgan, but he’s one of the biggest trolls against her she’s literally responsible for everything.
‘I did a tweet yesterday saying, “Oh my goodness I can’t believe she had time to kill Khashoggi while wearing the wrong nail varnish,” and the responses were hilarious.
‘This woman is being held responsible for everything.’
Susanna quickly cut her off, and said: ‘Ayesha, sorry, if you’re going to reference someone who’s not here we need to be a little bit careful.
‘You’re describing him as a troll, he has his criticisms but he can answer for himself. He has his criticisms of Meghan.’
Piers later took to Twitter to discuss the segment, and while not addressing the troll accusations, wrote: ‘Fascinating to watch [Ayesha] on [GMB] dismiss serious bullying allegations against Meghan Markle against female staff as just more racism.
‘These Meghan-loving feminists are all for supporting women – unless they’re the victims of vile bullying by Meghan Markle.’
‘Let’s be very clear: the new clip from Oprah’s whine-athon with the Sussexes shows Meghan Markle directly calling the Queen & Prince Philip liars,’ he added.
‘They are the heads of “The Firm”. And she’s done this as Philip lies seriously ill in hospital. It’s an absolute disgrace.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
