Dr Alex George has shared a touching tribute to his late brother Llyr on what would have been his 20th birthday.

In an Instagram post shared on Friday, the former Love Island star uploaded a picture of his younger brother proudly posing beside him on the day he graduated as a doctor.

In the accompanying cation, Alex heartbreakingly recalled the then 14-year-old ‘running up to him after the ceremony with the biggest smile.’

‘I was so excited for you to follow in my footsteps, you would have been the most amazing doctor,’ Alex said about Llyr, who passed away weeks before he was due to start medical school.

He continued: ‘Although I would never admit it to you, in honesty, you were the smarter of the two.’

‘You would have loved medical school and gone on to achieve so much. The very kindest of souls.’

The 30-year-old also revealed his anguish at knowing that he could not fulfil his plans of ‘road trips and adventures’ with Llyr.

‘It is impossibly hard at times, we miss you so much as a family. I have always been so proud of you. I hope you are proud of me. Love you, my boy x,’ he concluded.

Alex’s brother Llyr died aged 19 in July, with the reality star confirming at the time that he had ‘lost his little brother to mental health’.

Earlier this month, the former reality star reflected on turning 30 following the death of his brother.

‘Having to move into a new decade without Llŷr is so hard but I know he is with me in spirit, giving me the energy and strength to keep going.’

Dr Alex has recently been appointed as an ambassador to advise the government on mental health.

‘He wrote: As I look forward to my 30s, I do so with optimism that we can build a future where happiness, wellbeing and health is the priority for us all. I will do everything I can to help on this journey and bring real change.
