KJ Apa publicly shares video of him in bath meant for close pals but handles mishap like a champ: ‘Too late now’

Riverdale star KJ Apa may have just shared a video of himself in the bath – that was only intended for the viewing of his close pals – publicly on Instagram, but at least he’s handling it like a champ.

The actor, 23, who is best known for playing Archie Andrews in The CW series, has complied a ‘close friends’ list on Instagram so, like the rest of us, when it comes to posting content he only wants his pals to see, he can do that without it leaking out to unwanted eyes – or in his case, the big wide world

Kicking back in his bubble bath, KJ thought it would be funny to film himself for his close friends, only for him to accidentally hit that dreaded share to all and his video actually going out to all of his 19million followers.

What was the video you ask? KJ poking fun while sat in the bath with bubbles up to his neck.

He’s seen saying: ‘Hi I’m KJ, I’m 14 years old, I’m 5ft6. I love acting. Please consider me for this role. I’ve worked so hard for this my whole life.’

No, we don’t get it either, and now that inside joke is all over social media, but deciding to roll with the punches, KJ shrugged off his blatant mishap.

He followed up his video with a selfie and told fans: ‘That was for my close friends. But I guess it’s too late now. Enjoy it while u can (sic).’

Of course, the accidental video leak is now all over Twitter, prompting one fan to joke: ‘Thoughts and prayers to everyone on kj apa’s close friends list.’

Clearly entertained, another fan posted: ‘i can’t stop laughing at KJ Apa’s ig story “this was for my close friends but i guess it’s too late now”.’

While some were a little concerned with just how revealing KJ’s video was going to be and questioned whether they were going to get a lot more than they’d bargained for.

Riverdale fans are no doubt enjoying having KJ back on their screens, as the series returned with its fifth season last month.

Picking up from where it left off from season four – before filming was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic – Archie, Ronnie (Camila Mendes), Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) finally get to go prom and graduate high school.

After the first four episodes, which have carried over from the previous season, Riverdale then jumps forward into the future by seven years.

It explores where the gang are at in their lives following college, with Riverdale’s much-loved romances getting a shake up, as Ronnie introduces her new husband Chad Gekko, a Wall Street businessman (played by Broadchurch star Chris Mason).

The time jump was confirmed ahead of season five’s release by castmember Lili, who told Jimmy Fallon she was ‘really psyched’ over not having to play a teen anymore.

‘We’re actually doing a seven-year time jump into the future so we’re not going to be teenagers anymore,’ she said in August.

‘I’m really psyched about it. I think it will be really nice to play an adult. But I also really appreciate that Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa], our showrunner, said let’s revamp. So we’re not just stuck in high school for seven seasons.’

Riverdale is available to stream on Netflix.
