J-Hope has continued his mission to donate a whole lot of money every time he celebrates his birthday, with the BTS member this year donating ₩150million (£97,000) to charity today.
His latest round to celebrate his 27th birthday went via ChildFund Korea and will this time aid children with vision and hearing disabilities, as well as finance child care and academic support, according to reports.
J-Hope stated through ChildFund Korea, via Soompi: ‘I heard that the number of vulnerable families is increasing significantly due to the prolonged Covid-19 situation.
‘I heard that support for children with disabilities is especially urgent. I hope this donation will raise society’s interest in children with disabilities.’
According to Koreaboo, the Foundation Chairman Lee Je-hoon said of the generous donation: ‘Through the regular donations made by global star BTS’s J-Hope, interest in children who are suffering from economic difficulties is increasing, and his good influence is leading to increased inquiries in donating by both domestic and foreign Army.
‘Child Fund Korea will also do our best to support children from low-income families in accordance with the wishes of all our donors, including J-Hope.’
This isn’t the first time J-Hope has donated money to the charity, and he previously became the 146th member of the foundation’s Green Noble Club, which is a group of major donors who have shared over ₩100m (£64k).
He often donates on his birthday, and previously donated ₩150million and ₩100million in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Last year also donated ₩100million in order to help children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
His selfless actions also inspired Army to dig deep as, to celebrate his birthday in 2019, fans donated 128 sacks of rice, 10 kilograms each, to the performer’s hometown Gwangju City’s Buk District.
They also delivered 700 kilograms of feed and two dog shelters to animal rights group and relief organisations on behalf of the dancer and rapper, and partnered with the Korea Food for the Hungry International to organise Hope On The Stop Hunger project, which appeared to be linked with Hungersaver on social media.
It also isn’t just J-Hope that’s incredibly charitable, with BTS donating around £789k to Black Lives Matter following George Floyd’s death last year.
Happy birthday to J-Hope!
