U2 frontman Bono was apparently determined to make sure his daughter Eve Hewson didn’t become just another typical ‘celebrity kid’ maxing out his credit card in Hollywood.

Eve, 29, has made a name for herself in the acting industry with roles in series such as Netflix’s Behind Her Eyes and the 2011 film This Must Be The Place.

She didn’t want to follow her father’s footsteps into music but, frankly, Bono is just thankful that she didn’t waste the opportunities in front of her.

‘There was the fear that I would go off to LA and become some celebrity kid running around on Rodeo Drive,’ Eve told Town & Country magazine

‘I think any parent bringing up a kid in a certain lifestyle would have those fears.’

Eve is one of four children from Bono’s marriage to activist Ali Hewson and says the family are ‘genuinely kind of madly in love’ with each other, even if they occasionally rub one another up the wrong way.

Explaining why she chose an acting career instead, Eve revealed: ‘I thought I was going to go into music, but I was terrible at practising.

‘When I started acting, I realised I could spend all day long going over lines, reading scripts, doing different exercises, and it didn’t feel like work at all. Practising music did.’

Eve began acting in 2008 and went on to star in series The Knick as Nurse Lucy Elkins between 2014 and 2015.

She earned her breakthrough role in the 2018 adaptation of Robin Hood starring alongside Taron Egerton. Viewers may also recognise her from BBC series The Luminaries, in which she starred last year.

Eve’s most recent role is in mini series Behind Her Eyes, a mystery drama which follows Louise, a single mum with a son and a part-time job in a psychiatrist’s office.

Louise begins an affair with her boss and strikes up an unlikely friendship with his wife.

The spring issue of Town & Country is on sale from February 18.
