Britney Spears’ former assistant Felicia Culotta has emerged as a favourite with viewers after her appearance in the documentary Framing Britney Spears.

Framing Britney Spears charts the singer’s rise to fame and the #FreeBritney movement amid her ongoing conservatorship.

The much talked about film aired on Sky Documentaries and NOW TV on Tuesday night in the UK and quickly sparked buzz on social media.

Many viewers were left ‘heartbroken’ after watching some of the tougher moments in the singer’s life, such as when she famously checked out of rehab and shaved her head in front of waiting paparazzi in 2007.

However another talking point was Felicia, who explained in the film that she had known the star since she was five-years-old and praised her musical talents.

‘For a long time they called me her chaperone, and then at one point they wanted to call me her partner, and we didn’t think that sounded right. I definitely was not her mother, and I wasn’t her big sister, so we settled on assistant,’ she said.

Felicia added that she ‘doesn’t understand’ why Britney was entered into a conservatorship, which placed under the legal protection of her father, ‘especially for somebody Britney’s age and somebody capable of so much that I know firsthand she’s capable of.’

Asked why she took part in the documentary she said: ‘I will say the one reason I agreed to do the interview is so we can remind people of why they fell in love with her in the first place.’

Touching on the star’s Las Vegas residency in 2015, at which Felicia used to give backstage tours, she said: ‘I’m telling you when she walked on that stage, she never felt judged when she went on the stage. It was one of the high points in my life, is seeing how much she was loved.’

She added that ‘at some point’ Britney will ‘tell her story’.

Fans have been championing her on Twitter, with some calling for Felicia to be put in charge of Britney’s conservatorship.

‘Watching #FramingBritneySpears and I am just falling in love all over again with Felicia Culotta and yes, I am really struggling to fight back the tears,’ read one comment.

Another tweet read: ‘I absolutely adore Felicia she has always been there for Britney through everything, I had the pleasure of meeting her in Las Vegas & she is legit one of the sweetest women I’ve ever met.

‘We love Felicia Culotta. She’s such an angel.’

‘Her lovely assistant is probably the only person who has never used her,’ read another tweet, while one comment read: ‘The world needs more people like Felicia.’

One viewer posted: ‘There are only two good people that featured in this doc – Felicia and Britney’s former manager, Kim Kaiman’ while another simply wrote: ‘We Stan Felicia.’

A further tweet read: ‘I hope Felicia is happy and doing well. What a lovely soul.’

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Felicia revealed she is still in touch with Britney and her family.

‘Britney’s mum, Lynne, has been and still is one of my very favourite friends for 25-plus years,’ she said.

‘We talk at least two times a week about tons of different subjects — just like friends do! It is about Brit at times, as well as Jamie Lynn, Bryan and all the fabulous [grandkids].’
