Actor Faye Brookes has expressed her sadness that her Dancing On Ice 2021 partner Hamish Gaman has had to pull out of the competition due to an injury, describing him as a ‘brother’ and an ‘incredible friend’.

Today, it was announced that professional skater Hamish, 37, had been forced to drop out of the show after sustaining a finger injury by pulling up a sock.

Ahead of the latest show on Sunday, Hamish was given the go-ahead by medical professionals to take part, although certain adjustments were made to his and Faye’s routine.

However, after further deliberation, it has now been decided that he cannot continue, as he needs to take ‘some time out to allow his injury to fully heal’.

Following the news of his departure from the programme, Faye, 33, shared a statement on Instagram thanking him for being there for her ‘from the very beginning’, alongside a video of them in training on the ice rink together.

‘Truly heartbroken with the news that @hamishgaman has had to withdraw from @dancingonice,’ she wrote.

‘This guy has been there for me from the very beginning. Taught me everything I know and I hope I did you proud brother… It has been an honour.’

Writing that Hamish is ‘honestly an incredible human but also an incredible friend’, Faye added: ‘We both can’t thank the viewers at home enough for your constant support and for voting for Team #Faymish.’

The Coronation Street star thanked Hamish ‘for supporting me no matter what’, saying that they have ‘a friendship that will go beyond the ice’.

‘Here for you always,’ she said as she concluded her message.

It is understood that Faye will now be partnered with professional skater Matt Evers, who was previously partnered with Denise Van Outen.

Denise was forced to exit this year’s series after suffering partial dislocation in her left shoulder due to a nasty fall.

Before it was announced that he had been forced to withdraw from Dancing On Ice, Hamish spoke on Heat radio about his injury, having snapped a tendon in his hand.

He later confirmed on social media that he doesn’t need surgery, but will have to wear a splint for several weeks.

This week’s episode of Dancing On Ice is not going ahead, in an effort to look after the ‘welfare of all those involved’ in the ITV show.

In a statement, the broadcaster said: ‘The welfare of all of those involved is important to us and we felt it prudent to take a week’s break at this juncture. Continuing to make the best TV for our viewers is of paramount importance to us and we look forward to resuming the competition next week, with the show back live on Sunday 28th February.’
