The Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated Valentine’s Day yesterday in the most special way possible, as they announced they’re expecting their second child.
Prince Harry and Meghan shared the happy news via a beautiful black and white portrait, taken by their close friend and photographer Misan Harriman, which shows Meghan holding her bump wearing a chic Caroline Herrera dress that was made for her while she was pregnant with her first child Archie.
Royal fans will have noticed that the date of their announcement holds a special significance. Omid Scobie, Bazaar’s royal editor, tweeted that the Sussexes mirrored Princess Diana’s second pregnancy announcement on 14 February 1984.
Scobie tweeted: “A touching tribute announcing for the Sussexes to announce their exciting news on #ValentinesDay. It was exactly 27 years ago that Princess Diana shared with the world that she was pregnant with Prince Harry.”
Princess Diana was expecting her second child, Prince Harry, with husband the Prince of Wales.
The royal family is very excited about the news, as Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “Her Majesty, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and entire family [are] ‘delighted’ and wish them well.”
Prince Harry and Meghan welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor back in May 2019. Following their landmark decision to step back from their senior royal duties last year, the family have relocated to Montecito in California.
