The cast and crew of the Married at First Sight Australia reunion special have been placed in 24-hour lockdown after a Covid-19 scare on the production.

As reported by Daily Mail Australia, the entire production of the special reunion episode were told to self-isolate for a day after filming the episode, after a crew member was reportedly ‘feeling unwell’.

A spokesperson for the production company told the publication: ‘Endemol Shine Australia takes the health and safety of our cast, crew and the community extremely seriously. We will work in line with current government guidelines to ensure their safety and wellbeing.’

The cast has now be confined to their hotel rooms for a day, postponing any media commitments related to the show.

This is only being treated as a precaution, as the cast and crew had all been required to take coronavirus tests during production.

The Married at First Sight 2021 reunion special had already been rocked by the pandemic. The special was meant to happen in mid-January but was pushed back due to border closures in Australia.

The reunion has been particularly troubled, as, on top of navigating the pandemic, it nearly missed one of its biggest stars. Ines Basic almost didn’t fly to Sydney to shoot as her plane was delayed.

She was left waiting for five hours but did eventually make a rescheduled flight avoiding a major production conflict.

However, after all the behind the scenes drama, it seems that the on-screen drama is now filmed. Production on the reunion took place across two days this week at Sydney’s Ground of Alexandria and has now finished.

Married At First Sight Australia continues Tuesday at 7.30 pm on E4 and is available to watch via catch up on All 4.
