A HUGE Nerf laser combat arena could open in Manchester, according to new plans – the first of its kind in the UK.
The £5.4m Nerf Action Xperience centre hopes to open at the Trafford shopping centre.
The new attraction will have three floors for the Nerf arenas, with a 4,000sqft mezzanine with a cafe and viewing platform.
The project is a collaboration between game brand Hasbro and Rocafella Leisure Group.
According to the plans, the attraction will be a “family entertainment leisure experience, incorporating laser guns and virtual interactions and is a market leading attraction with 20 attractions across Europe.”
It will be the first of its kind in the UK – a similar attraction is open in Singapore called Nerf Xperience.
The Singapore version has five zones including a “high octane” laser battle zone, as well as a laser obstacle course.
The “Compete” arena has a range of adventures including a zombie city and a post-apocalyptic war zone.
“Conquer” has challenges including escaping an erupting volcano, while “Create” has no rules, with players encouraged to use their own imagination for the challenges.
“Challenge” is a training zone for guests to practice their Nerf skills.
If all goes according to plan, it could open later this year – it initially hoped to open by spring 2021 although this will likely be pushed back due to the pandemic.
Back in September, Rocafella COO Phil Smith said: “I’m excited to announce that we are launching the UK’s first Nerf Action Experience at the Trafford Centre in early 2021.
“Taking UK family Entertainment Centres to the next level with the first of its kind. A huge thank you to @hasbro and their dedicated team.”

A huge new indoor water park and spa is also coming to Manchester, with water slides, pools, wellness areas and even swim up bars.
Another attraction is a £75m water park inspired by Indiana Jones which could be opening in Bournemouth.
The Elysium Waterpark will be the largest in the UK, stretching 75 acres across Poole and the New Forest.
