Joel had taken his seat on The Wheel to help the contestants to win a life-changing sum by answering questions on heavy metal – but got two out of three of his questions wrong.
His first question was to establish which of four bands had had a UK number one, between Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Metallica and Slipknot, to which he chose Linkin Park.
This gave him his first strike, as the correct answer was actually Limp Bizkit, leaving him in the red for the next round.
However, when another question came up in his category, Joel was once again stumped as he tried to work out which Marvel superhero was also the name of a Black Sabbath album.
Joel chose Black Panther from the four options, but the correct answer would have been Iron Man, leaving him locked out once more.
He did, however get one question right – correctly deducing that the highway in AC/DC’s famous song leads to ‘hell’, which pretty much every other celebrity on The Wheel also got right.
Sadly, this was not enough to save him from being the worst expert of the week, landing in last place for the night.
Viewers took to Twitter to complain about Joel’s apparent lack of heavy metal knowledge, writing: ‘I think when @joeldommett said he knows Heavy Metal he meant tungsten gold iron.’
Others added: ‘@joeldommett Heavy Metal Expert who doesn’t know Black Sabbath songs, who invented a Heavy Metal’ and ‘Not Joel being an “expert” in heavy metal and getting the questions wrong’.
Final contestant Junaid was then left with the option of going with top expert Rachel Riley for £29,500, middle expert Daisy Lowe for £59,000 or worst contestant of the night, Joel, for £118,000, to see if he could get the final question right to win the money.
Despite the huge amount on offer for Joel, Junaid picked Daisy for £59,000 and managed to walk away with the life-changing amount of cash.
