With every episode of Bridgerton we watch, we end up with more questions. Where was it filmed? What happened behind-the-scenes? How old are the cast and characters supposed to be?
The Netflix original, which has been the fifth most successful TV show on the streaming service ever, tells the story of Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market.
As her brother Anthony begins to rule out potential suitors, she strikes a deal with Simon Basset, aka The Duke, and, well, you probably know the rest.
But how old are Daphne, The Duke and the other Bridgerton characters and the actors who play them? Here’s a run down of what you need to know, with many of the details revealed in Julia Quinn’s 2000 novel The Duke And I, which Bridgerton is based on.
Daphne Bridgerton age
In the book, which season one is based on, Daphne is 21 years old. Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne, was born in April 1995 so is 25 in real life.
The Duke of Hastings age
We know that Simon Basset aka The Duke went to university with Daphne’s brother Anthony, so is a few years older than her. Reports say he is 29, while actor Regé-Jean Page was born in 1990 so is 31 in real life.
Anthony Bridgerton age
At the beginning of Bridgerton, we learn that Daphne’s brother Anthony is 30, nine years older than his sister and a similar age to university friend The Duke. Anthony is played by 32-year-old Jonathan Bailey.
Benedict Bridgerton age
The middle of the Bridgerton brothers, Benedict is a few years younger than his brother Anthony, making him 27. He’s played by Luke Thompson, who was born in 1988, making him 32.
Colin Bridgerton age
Next comes the youngest of the Bridgerton brothers, Colin, who is 22 in the series – making him one year older than Daphne. He is played by 23-year-old Luke Newton.
Eloise Bridgerton age
Eloise, Daphne’s younger sister, is 17 in the show, making her four years younger than her sister. The actress that plays her, Claudia Jessie, is 31 in real life (she was born in October 1989) making her 14 years older than the character she plays.
Penelope Featherington age
Also 17 is Penelope Featherington, aka the other half of our favourite part of Bridgerton, Peneloise. She’s played by Derry Girls actress Nicola Coughlan, who is 33 (34 on 9 January.)
