Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up on family life in lockdown and admits her 14-year-old son Moses is having the ‘hardest time’ when it comes to staying at home.
The actress, 48, appeared virtually on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night, after the show was forced to resume filming from home due to new restrictions put in place after increasing cases of Covid-19 in the US.
Host Jimmy had asked Gwyneth how her family were getting on in lockdown and she revealed that her son Moses is struggling the most with being cooped up inside.
‘I think Moses my 14-year-old son is having the hardest time with it,’ she said.
‘I mean, what’s great is that he is a skateboarder, so he can do a lot of solo outside exercise and work on skills and tricks and stuff like that, but I think it’s very hard to be 14.’
Gwyneth continued: ‘As you know, and all the parents that are watching your show know – it’s tough on the ones that are still in the most intense developmental stages, I sort of observe.
‘My daughter’s 16, she kind of knows who she is, she’s got her friends, my son would have started high school in September and I think it’s hard socially.’
However, Gwyneth did add: ‘But I’ve been so amazed at how adaptable kids are during this time and how agile they’ve been, so hats off to all these kids around the world who are just getting through it.’
Gwyneth is mum to daughter Apple and son Moses, who she shares with ex-husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
The Goop founder – who is now married to Glee creator Brad Falchuk – famously ‘consciously uncoupled’ from Chris after 10 years of marriage and their divorce was finalised in 2016.
The exes have stayed on real good terms, however, and are often seen hanging out as they co-parent their teens.
Elsewhere in her TV appearance, Gwyneth reflected on her own teenage years and confessed to being a bit of a rebel who liked to drink alcohol and sneak out of the house.
She told Jimmy: ‘Oh god, I was terrible. I got really into the alcohol, I loved that whole phase of teenager-hood. I remember I once had a party.
‘My parents went out of town and I had a party… I got so drunk at this party and was like, “I’m not going to get caught,” I woke up and I cleaned the house top to bottom.’
Unfortunately for her, Gwyneth didn’t get away with it, as she revealed: ‘I got busted because one of my friends had gone into my dad’s shower and drunk a bunch of beers and left them in the shower.’
‘I was grounded for a month because of him. I used to sneak out and smoke cigarettes,’ she admitted, before joking: ‘At least they don’t do that now.’
